The Kingdom Message

Jesus our High Priest ~ Entering into God’s rest ~ What does it mean?

How is Jesus our High Priest?  What does it mean, Jesus the Apostle? How do we enter into Gods rest?

These are questions many people ask every day without finding answers.

Many who ask their pastors or teachers get such vague answers such as, just keep on coming to church and you will be fine!

Just read your bible and everything will be fine!

Just keep attending the services and paying your tithes and you will be ok!

What kind of relief do these kinds of answers bring ones soul?  The soul who cries out for a relationship with God, these kind of answers will never suffice them.

Nothing will satisfy our longing for God until we can understand who Jesus is and how his finished work on the cross has made it possible to enter into God’s rest!

Entering God’s rest through Jesus our High Priest

Hebrews 4 (KJV)

4 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

God created the heavens and earth in six (6) days and on the seventh, he rested (completed or finished His work).

Exodus 29  This chapter is all about God preparing his people to enter into his rest.

V.9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

It has always been God’s desire to rest (dwell among, be in the presence of) among his people!

Remember the Garden of Eden? God would come to the garden and fellowships with Adam! That was his desire from the foundation of the earth, to dwell among his creation!

Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus:

Hebrews 3 (KJV)

3 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

God told Moses how to consecrate Aaron and his sons to become High Priest.  This was from the lineage of Levi or the Levites.

Jesus came from the line of Judah not Levi!

So, as the Priesthood was changed (from Levite to Judah) so also was the law!  With a change of he priesthood there must also come a change of the law!

We are now no more only his creation but we have also become his begotten through the work of Jesus.  We are no longer just created beings, we have become born again, children of the Father. Like Jesus, we now rest in the bosom of the Father!

We have entered into his rest through Godly sorrow and grief that has worked repentance in us and our faith in the Son and his completed work for our salvation and forgiveness of sins!

1 Peter 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Look at the wording of this statement! He has “begotten us again”….. So, this indicates that that at one time man had a relationship with the Father.

1 John 5:18

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

The Forfeiting of God’s rest!

In the beginning Adam had a lively hope in God the Father but he forfeited it by his sin.  Man was now separated from God and his presence left man when he removed him from the garden!

Then God made another plan for the Children of Israel and was going to allow them to enter into his rest as Adam had. He was going to dwell among them! He was going to tabernacle with them and be their God and they would be his people and they would know him!

They refused and because of their sins and unbelief, just like Adam, they were separated from God and they could not enter into his rest!  Now, let us consider Jesus!

The Apostle and High Priest of our profession from God to us is Jesus!

Jesus The Apostle

The Apostle who came and ministered and taught the word of the Father who sent him. Jesus said he did not to come to speak his own words but the words of the Father.

John 14:10

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

An Apostle revels the Father to his listeners. This is what Jesus did! Jesus revealed that he had been sent from God to give this message to the world. But the revelation would only come to those who “he would reveal it to”.  Not everyone will see and know who Jesus and the Father is!

Luke 10:22

All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

An Apostle establishes the message and proclaims the truth of who God is!

John 14:6

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The Apostle also gives instruction as to how to follow the Father after you have seen him!  Are we not to follow after the spiritual things and not carnal?  If we spend all out time on books, theologies, seminaries, etc. we will miss the most important one of all, the Spirit of Truth!

John 16:13

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Jesus our High Priest of our profession!

Hebrews 3

3 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Every religious person has a claim to a profession!  Some are more dedicated to good than others.  There are many “good” religions and clubs, sororities, charities, etc in this world but there is only one True Religion!

This True Religion is found only in Christ Jesus, the High Priest of our profession!

Our profession is:

There is only one God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. These being three are one!

There is no other way into His Kingdom but through the person of Jesus the Christ!

There is no way to know Him except the Spirit of Truth reveals Him to us and we repent in Godly sorrow and grief over our sins.!

Jesus became our High Priest through the cross.

At one time the High Priest of Israel was the only person in all the land who could enter into the Holy of Holies, the presence of God, to offer sacrifices for the sins of the people!

The veil of the Temple separated the common man from the presence of God! (Remember, God wished to dwell among his people but they refused).

The Priest would sanctify himself and offer up sin offerings for himself lest he be struck dead upon entering the Holy place in the presence of God!  He had to be purified in the eyes of God before his sacrifice would be accepted!

Then God sent his son who fulfilled the law, completed the work of it all!  He was a sanctified and pure offering without sin!  The letter to the Hebrews speaks of his own flesh being the veil between man and the Father.

The flesh of Jesus had to be destroyed in order for the Holy of Holies to be made available to access!  Once the flesh was destroyed and Jesus arose from the grave, the presence of God was now available to all who would call upon him!

Just like the flesh of Jesus had to be destroyed in order for the veil to be removed, so must the flesh in us be destroyed in order for us to enter into that holy place, the presence of God the Father.

Once we have learned to worship God in Spirit and not flesh, we can truly enjoy a relationship in His Spirit and fellowship with him by revelation of the Spirit of Truth!

This magnificent letter to the Hebrews also mentions that we have a table to eat from that those who still follow the law does not! Our table is in heaven, in the presence of God!

Hebrews 13:

10 We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.

Those who still preach and teach the Carnal Law of doing and sacrificing have no place in the Spiritual realm where the Children feast!

Our altar in in heaven, not upon this earth! We serve a living altar, not one made of stone!  Jesus our High Priest has entered into the heavens and is sitting on the right hand of the Father making intercession for us!

If Jesus hasn’t become your Great High Priest, you have missed out entirely!  You can not enter the Kingdom of God without this knowledge!

Stop serving the earthly sanctuary and come to Jesus who resides in the heavens!  The earthy sanctuary was only a shadow of this wonderful fullness that the Spirit of Truth brings us!

We can only enter into God’s Rest when we lay aside all the doings (earthly sacrifices) to keep ourselves holy!  Only Jesus, the Apostle and high Priest is qualified to do this!  Out faith in “Him” is what makes us right in the eyes of the Father!

It really is all about Jesus and his work in the earth!

Would you like to be free from all the condemnation of doing and doing and doing and still failing and then feeling condemned all over and over again?

Would you like to enter into His rest?

Today, right now, I would ask you to consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our profession!

Be Blessed my Friends!
