Subversives ~The subversion of ones soul!
Definition of Subversion from Strongs Dictionary: (in the sense of reversal) and a derivative of (skeuos); properly to pack up (baggage), i.e. (by implication and figurative) to upset :- subvert.
In the book of the Acts of The Apostles we read that the Gentiles were being subverted or that the Gospel was trying to be reversed by the Jews teaching them the law!
This has been happening for generations and generations and is still going on today in modern churches!
How does one subvert another's soul? As we read on we will see how satan works with his followers to try to change people from following the simple gospel to following the law by making it look like the commandments of God the Father!
We really have to separate the truth from fables and reality from fantasy! We can only do this by following Jesus and allowing the Spirit of Truth to give us revelation!
The subversion of the Gentiles
19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
Looks closely to the part of “that we trouble not them” in verse 19. This literally means that we don’t burden them with things that are not necessary!
24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
Look closely to these scriptures! Again the writer uses the term “troubled you”, or burdened you unnecessarily.
This is an opportunity for the general assembly of the saints in Jerusalem to give instructions to the Gentiles about their duties as born again Christians!
What did they tell them? That they should attend the temple regularly and pay their tithes so God would not curse them?
Did they instruct them to be circumcised according to the law? Did they instruct them to burn sacrifices upon altars for the forgiveness of their sins? Did they ask them to obey the carnal Law of Moses? No, no, no, and no!In fact, they rejected the very idea of someone teaching such things that were sent from them.
Stopping the Subversion
The only things they instructed the Gentiles to follow, was a list of things that dealt strongly with the conscience.
Abstain from meats offered to idols and from blood and from things strangled
This act of eating meats offered to idols, drinking the blood of those sacrifices and eating the meat of those animals which were strangled in pagan sacrifices defiled the conscience of those weaker Christians who had not come into the fullness of the Father in understanding yet.
Paul declared that meats were nothing and none to be refused if they were received with thanksgiving and prayer but he also said to be careful in which ones you eat as it may offend the conscience of the weaker brother who had not matured in the doctrine of Jesus! (1 Timothy 4:3-5)
Refrain from fornication.
This is another thing that defiles the conscience. Fornication has always been one of Gods original commandments and this is a moral sin that defiles the conscience of a person toward God and his fellow man!
These things were not law issues but conscience issues to help these Gentiles cope with their new found freedom in Jesus!
The Jews, just like the modern day church found these new converts and wanted to initiate them into the carnal law that had been done away with by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus!
The Carnal Law Subverts ones soul
The Carnal Law was and still is a burdensome thing to be under. Jesus came to set the Jews free from that hateful thing!
The Gentiles were never under it to start with but the Jews wanted to bring them under it just like they were! Misery loves company!
The modern day church does this same thing! First, you have to be “baptized into what they call the church but it is actually being baptized into their denomination!
Second you have to become a member of what they say is the church but in reality it is becoming a member of their denomination!
Third you have to pledge a tenth of all your income to them so you are not cursed of God!
Never mind none of this is taught by Jesus or the disciples, it is an accepted doctrine in the modern day churches all over this country!
You see, the United States and it’s people have come to the point of making the Gospel of Jesus conform to its lifestyles.
No matter the denomination, folks make the scripture fit how they want to live and believe!
What we really need as a people is to sit down and take time to read and study this wonderful scripture and seek the revelation of the Great Teacher, the Spirit of Truth, whom Jesus said he was sending!
He is here, he abides in us and if we allow him, he will guide us into all truth!
Do you want fables and traditions or truth?
It is all about Jesus!
Be blessed my friends!
